How To Register For ChatGPT For Free 2024 step by step guide

Artificial intelligence

Since ChatGPT was introduced by OpenAI at the end of November 2022, it has made big waves.
Not only on social media, but also in many major online magazines and newspapers.

And not without reason:

ChatGPT represents an enormous advancement of current AI text generators .

The chatbot can not only create, rewrite or rewrite texts on instruction, but also interact with users. He remembers e.g. B. the chat history and can ask questions about user input. You can write with ChatGPT in any language.

The best thing about it is that

you can currently use ChatGPT for free as part of a research preview. I'll show you how to do this in this article (don't worry, it's super easy).

FAQ

Here I have put together answers to frequently asked questions about ChatGPT:

How long will ChatGPT be free?

It's unclear how much longer ChatGPT's free Research Preview will be available.

I suspect it will be discontinued or at least restricted in the second quarter of 2023 at the latest. Rather even earlier, because the Research Preview probably costs OpenAI several million US dollars a day .

Do I need to be able to code to use ChatGPT?

No, ChatGPT's free Research Preview comes with a user interface that can be used without programming knowledge.

Can I use ChatGPT on my smartphone?

Yes, ChatGPT Research Preview works with most modern smartphone browsers.

Can I download ChatGPT?

Yes, there is a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux on Github.

What language models is ChatGPT based on?

ChatGPT is based on GPT-3.5, which in turn is composed of the following language models:

  • code-davinci-002
  • text-davinci-002
  • text-davinci-003

You can find more information about this in the OpenAI documentation .

Can I trust that everything ChatGPT tells me is true?

No not always. In fact, ChatGPT statements can sometimes be discriminatory or harmful and should always be checked. For three reasons:

1. ChatGPT is only trained on data going as far as 2021. That is, certain knowledge is outdated or non-existent.

2. It cannot distinguish between true and false. So if the training data contains false information, ChatGPT may reflect it.

3. ChatGPT's knowledge is limited to the data it was trained on. It is also not connected to the internet and can get missing data from other sources.
